Machine Design, Build & Power Electronics

Over the past 8 years, Tin Arm Engineering AB has been involved in several machine design and prototyping projects including:

  • 5 Electric machine designs.
  • 2 Inverter design projects.
  • 4 complete electric vehicle projects, (Car, 7.5T truck , 26T autonomous truck, motorcycle)
  • Hypercar battery design check
  • Stationary energy storage power electronics, and system design
  • Numerous tear-downs, functional safety reviews, etc.

Engineering Solver as a Service

Through the above projects, Tin Arm has identified several challenges around using commercially available simulation tools.

For many customers, these tools are prohibitively expensive, often meaning that modelling and simulation tasks have to be subcontracted to third parties. Additionally, many tools can only be installed on engineers’ personal computers that prove to be lacking in performance for computationally intensive simulations. Due to the iterative nature of machine design, simulations invariably need to be repeated many times as a design is honed.

In response to these challenges, Tin Arm set about designing a cloud-based machine simulation tool that could be accessed through a browser, giving engineers access to advanced simulation software running on powerful hardware.

Long-running simulations can now be left alone to complete in the cloud with results securely stored for later analysis. Once impossible on an engineer’s laptop, hundreds of simulations can now be run in parallel, accelerating the path to a final design. There’s no longer any need to pay for expensive annual licences for each engineer on the team. With Tin Arm’s cloud-based simulation solution, you pay only for the processor time you use.
